MARK THESE DATES! Here are some important dates to mark down and prepare for!
* BEACH PARTY SERVICE DAY!!!
On Saturday, July 31st we're hitting Dockweiler beach and serving youths in LA County. As part of a service project for LA County, involving several churches we are providing a fun day with community youth, where they can send volunteers for the day! So from 9am-3pm, we'll be running the show! We'll be featuring a youth vs adult flag football tournament, food, drinks, a great day with the waves, volleyball, team games and more!
The day will be flexible and revolve around sports and different activities. There will be planned sports, by Chris Jahng. Chris will be announcing games and letting all the different helpers (coaches, players, etc) know when things happen throughout the day. Lunch will be around noon. There will also be a time of thanksgiving at the end of the day! Please bring any extra beach (chairs, towels, umbrellas) or sports gear that you are willing to bring!
These are the different ways in which the 14 volunteers will help. We will round these out with some from our team!
a. Coaching: Coach a team of youth with other leaders by your side, in games, sports, for the day. You'll be part of a team to make the crowd smaller… Go with the team to the water for some ocean time…etc.
b. Player: Be a player in the games. Flag football, volleyball, organized games like relays…etc, and maybe even dodgeball / kickball!!
c. Food server: We need food and drinks served but also "controlled" so the stock isn't raided and all that. Helps to set up the tables, organize food distribution, handing out snacks and drinks, and also serving lunch as a group. We'll have hot dogs (and a veggie alternative) to grill up, along with snacks and drinks. If anyone has coolers to bring, that would be great! If anyone feels compelled to bring a snack, that is also welcomed! Smores are also a big hit, if anyone is up for that, please let me know!
d. Entertainment: If you'd like to lead some songs with guitar… always fun. Please bring lyrics also so youth can sing along. Feel free to teach youth a little about playing or singing…etc. Organize a beachside musical chairs game…etc.
e. Casual: Hey, no pressure. Just hang out, be available if anyone needs something, or just wants to talk to someone. Say a friendly word to a youth if he's sitting by himself…etc. Or just hang out with us for the day. Get a tan and enjoy your time. Your presence is a service to the youth!
f. Historian: We'll need someone to take pictures of the day. If anyone feels compelled to this task, then awesome; otherwise, I'll be going around snapping away!

DIRECTIONS
Dockweiler beach is El Segunda area, just north of Manhattan Beach. Come down the 105 West, all the way until it ends and take Imperial Highway all the way down to the beach. At Vista Del Mar (beachside road), take a left and then there is street parking on both sides of the street (highly recommended to park on the right side/west side of Vista Del Mar due to traffic), or take a right on Grand, to park into the paying parking lot. Please carpool as much as possible, as we will reimburse for parking in the lot. I recommend parking in the lot if you have a lot of items to bring out, otherwise, the street is a good bet! Once in the parking lot, we will most likely be to the right, but I suggest calling once you're in to find out exactly where we are meeting, as we will have to scout around and find a good place to be our headquarters for the day! Look out for signs, otherwise, please call me, and I will give you more direction! Thank you again for volunteering. This day would not happen without you and we are thrilled to have such a great team!

* HARVEST CRUSADE 2010
Featuring David Crowder Band, Phil Wickham, Steven Curtis Chapman, MercyMe and others, Pastor Greg Laurie continues the annual event where 13 of our own teens have come to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior since 2008! So join us for this amazing and free event at Anaheim Stadium in early August and feel the power of the Holy Spirit and the rejoicing of Angels in Heaven above as we worship, praise, thank, and submit to our loving God. Share prayer, tears, joy and laughter as we experience the gift that only He can give. We will attend as a youth group on Friday, August 6th, and then - God willing - again on Sunday, August 8th!
* FOA ESCAPE FROM THE CITY 7!!!
Our annual Friends of Angels camping event will be the weekend of August 13th-15th up in beautiful Pilgrim Pines camping grounds once again! We're back and serving over 20 families with autistic children and recruiting volunteers to be the kids buddies for the weekend, offering the families much needed time for rest, refreshing, encouragement, support, education, fun and fellowship. Volunteer applications are coming, and this is one of the most powerful serving weekends our youths and leaders are ever a part of... get involved today! And with the camp on it's way, it's time to start submitting your volunteer and family applications! Download as needed:

GET READY FOR THE MUDRUN! We are forming youth/adult teams for the LA Mudrun in Pasadena on Saturday, August 21st (weekend after FOA Camp). Our youth leaders including myself, Lee, Monica, Pam, Eric, Ernesto and I and hopefully some other brave souls will be recruiting youths to join us! Registration through July now is still only $45 per person! We will form a giant team, get some t-shirts, and wear some funny hats as we hit the 3.5 mile obstacle course... in the mud! For details, CLICK HERE! If you don't want to run but want to attend the event, by all means... just know that we will throw mud at you! We will also be hosting a special VIP area for spectators and supporters!
SUPPORT A YOUTH TEAM MEMBER! You can support a youth team member by donating on his or her behalf. Each team member will raise at least $45 for the team with any net proceeds going to the Baja Mexico Missions Trip! Help get the teens out there in the mud, and come and join the party!

A great way to kickoff the end of summer and cool off together with the giant high flying water slides, the lazy river, the wave pool and great fellowship!
